How Google uses artificial intelligence to estimate plane delays

Using machine learning algorithms and by consulting flight history, Google Flights will be able to intuit aircraft delays even before the companies that operate them, a post on the company's official blog says.

Delays detected early by the company's AI will be displayed in the service Google Flights. According to Google, these will become visible to users once the certainty level passes 80%.

The delays highlighted by Google Flights will also be accompanied by the reason why the AI thinks this will happen, such as weather conditions in a particular region or the delay of the plane on the way out.

Users can track whether their planes will be delayed by a simple search by route or flight number. The information will be displayed directly in the search results.

Google Flights will now offer users even more information about cheap flights. This will display the services that low-cost airlines do or do not include in the fare, so users will know from the start, for example, whether they will have to pay for baggage or not.

The news comes less than a month after Google Flights has started to offer price tracking features for airline tickets and exclusive offers for users of the service.
